Oliver trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic School. Early work included everything from devised work to Dickens and Shakespeare to seaside musicals.

In 1997 he met Ken Campbell, played the central role of Phil Masters in the 24-play cycle ‘The Warp’, and went on to become a member of esoteric extemporising group The School of Night and a founder member of Showstopper! The Improvised Musical.

He has worked for the RSC; in the West End production of ‘Mamma Mia!’; with the performance trio IROQIM; in premieres of plays by Mark Ravenhill, Clare Dowie and Lanford Wilson among others; and is a regular collaborator with theatremakers Slung Low, most recently on their outdoor version of Moby Dick, ‘The White Whale’.

Screen credits include the award-winning Lovecraftian short films ‘Mr.Gibson’ and ‘Vomica’; features ‘Wimbledon’ and ‘Wasted’; and extensive television work.

He has also appeared in over 40 radio plays for the BBC, most recently the comedy sketch series ‘Trodd en Bratt say Well Done You’, Doctor Who audio adventures for Big Finish.
